Steve is president of Johnson Lyman Wealth Advisors. He began his career as a financial planner in 1984 teaching Personal Financial Management and Investments courses for the University of Maryland in the European Division. He currently teaches candidates for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® credential the Survey of Personal Financial Planning and Investments in Personal Financial Planning courses for the University of California Santa Cruz Extension in Silicon Valley.
He is active in the development of standards for personal financial planning, serving as a technical expert on the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee 222 and is currently working to develop an American national standard. Previously, Steve has served on the national Board of Directors of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), on numerous FPA national task forces and committees, and as president and chair of the FPA of Silicon Valley Board of Directors.
For the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), he has served on the national Board of Directors and as treasurer, president and chair of the NAPFA West Region Board of Directors. Locally, Steve chairs the Half Moon Bay Citizens’ Measure E (Parcel Tax) Oversight Committee for the Cabrillo Unified School District, and manages the endowment fund for the Cabrillo Education Foundation. He previously served on the Board of Directors and as treasurer of Ocean Colony Association.
Steve graduated from Colgate University with a degree in economics and earned his MBA from the University of West Florida. He served as an officer in the United States Air Force from 1968 to 1993. A native Californian, Steve has resided in Half Moon Bay since 1994 with his wife of 41 years, Irene.

Rob delights in making a difference in his clients’ lives. His passion and expertise is in partnering with clients, empowering them to clarify goals and to discern next actions. Rob enjoys collaborative work where a fresh perspective creates new possibilities and inspiration for a client. Rob has experience in the growing discipline of behavioral investment counseling and serves more generally as a life coach and advocate for his clients.
Rob is a Senior Lead Advisor and Partner at the firm as well as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM practitioner. Rob is also the principal architect of the firm’s highly personalized and comprehensive Wealth Management service. He is a graduate of Princeton University and holds a master's degree in engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
Professionally, Rob is active in the Silicon Valley chapter of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), where he serves on the program committee and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), where he has been designated as a NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisor. Rob has trained other fee-only financial planners at several NAPFA conferences, including the 2005 West Region and South Region events. One of Rob's financial planning case studies has been used for the capstone course in financial planning at the University of Georgia. As a member of the National Association of Investor's Corp. (NAIC), Rob developed investor education curriculum and has taught investment classes for the San Francisco chapter.
Rob enjoys skiing, boarding, and backpacking with his wife, Catherine, and two college-graduated children. Recently, his entire family successfully climbed Mt. Whitney via the Mountaineer’s Route. He is an active member of the Palo Alto Rotary Club (serving on Board of Trustees for the Palo Alto Rotary Endowment and on the program committee), and is currently serving and a Past President of the Woodside High School Foundation. Rob and Catherine have also served as foster care parents, and have successfully supported a foster teen in graduating high school and moving on to college.

Pat has been with the firm since 1999. He started in the financial services business in 1990 as financial planner for IDS/American Express. After that, he worked briefly as an Account Executive at Dean Witter and moved to Houston in 1994 to serve as a bank officer overseeing brokerage and annuity transactions at five Charter Bank & Trust locations. Pat has been a fee-only Certified Financial Planning (CFP®) practitioner since 1999. He is a National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) Registered Financial Advisor, a member of the Silicon Valley Financial Planning Association (FPA) and a member of the San Francisco Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) chapter.
Pat is a 1983 Air Force Academy graduate and holds an MBA in Finance from Golden Gate University. After serving 28 years, Pat retired from the Air Force reserves in 2011 but continues to serve as an Admissions Liaison Officer for ROTC / AF Academy. A native of California, Pat has at various times called Hawaii, Texas, and Spain his home. He, his wife, Rona, and grade school-aged children often travel to the Philippines to visit their extended families. An avid tennis player and weekend warrior, Pat’s dream is to visit all the four majors (NYC, French, Australian, Wimbledon) and to participate in local mini-marathons.

Jennifer works with the firm's lead advisors to develop and implement financial planning strategies for our clients. She is a Certified Financial Planning® practitioner, having earned her designation in January 2009.
Jennifer has been a consultant and educator in the area of employee retirement plans for many San Francisco Bay Area companies and their employees.
Jennifer has an accounting degree from California State University Hayward and a Certificate of Financial Planning from the College for Financial Planning in Colorado.
Jennifer is active in the Silicon Valley chapter of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). She currently serves as Treasurer on the Board of the FPA and is on the Pro-Bono committee. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, cooking, nature walks, reading, and learning about health and nutrition.

Linda brings with her an extensive background in small business management. Linda began her career by establishing and operating a bookkeeping service for 15 years. Linda later owned and operated a chain of retail auto parts stores for 17 years.
She has been volunteering for over 18 years as the Financial Coordinator for RotoCare Bay Area Free Clinic-San Jose, a non-profit corporation formed for the purpose of providing free medical care to people who have the most need and the least access to medical services. In addition to establishing and overseeing budgets, she has served as site administrator and translator.
Linda is responsible for processing clients’ security transactions and portfolio activities as well as running Human Resources and Accounting. She and her husband, Mariano, a concert flamenco guitarist, teacher, and composer, have been married for 33 years and have two children and four grandchildren. In her spare time, Linda enjoys hiking, biking, concerts, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Jennifer is the newest member to the Johnson Lyman team and brings a wide set of customer and team support skills to our staff. Jennifer has held a broad range of positions before this, including being an Office Manager for a local non-profit, a Housing Programs Technician for the City of Sunnyvale, and an Executive Assistant at the New York Stock Exchange.
Jennifer graduated from California State University Hayward with a Bachelors of Science degree in Industrial Psychology.
She is the main support in handling requests from clients and maintaining our Client Relationship Management database.
In her spare time, she enjoys taking road trips, ice skating, kayaking, painting, photography and engaging in dog friendly activities.

Betsy has been with Johnson Lyman since 1992. She is responsible for reconciling and maintaining account information related to clients’ trades and electronic records storage.
She is a graduate of Alfred University, Alfred, N.Y. where she received her RN and BS degrees. In addition to nursing, while raising her four children, she obtained a Lifetime Adult Education Credential and was the Director of the Los Gatos Parent Nursery School.
Betsy is a member of P.E.O. which is an international organization that raises money for college scholarships for women. As part of her activities with P.E.O., Betsy volunteers with the organization’s Nearly New Thrift Shop in Sunnyvale.
She is an active member of her church and enjoys family activities, traveling, gardening, and the San Jose Symphony.
